Dregs? Why Dregs?
We considered a ton of names when considering a vodka brand that gives back:
80/20, Amity, Anchor, Apres Vida, Barrel Burn, Bear, Blank, Bon, Break, Burn Barrel, Caritas, Change, Charred, Church, Crisis, Crusades, Cusp, Digs, Doctor, Elevate, Emerge, Exile, Eye Opener, Fair Shake, First Tracks, Flux, Free Spirits, Freedom, Fresh Tracks, Generous, Halfway, Harbor, Lifty, Lodge, Lu Blu, Magnolia, Mike & Jim's, Morning Glass, Mourning Glass, Movement, Pax, Pith, Regrowth, Retreat, Rinse, Sanctuary, Sant, Santi, Shift, Si, Silo, Sip-In, Slack Water, Sponsor, Standing, Standing Tall, Standing Tide, Still, Still Standing, Trek, Vigor, Vodkarma, and more.
We settled on Dregs because we liked the duality of dregs referencing the remnants of liquor and its reference to “the dregs of society” - the forgotten folks. We enjoyed the old saying “drink to the dregs” and Mark Twain’s quote “if you want to see the dregs of society, go down to the jail and watch the changing of the guard.”
Ultimately, just as vodka has no dregs, we love the idea of a “dreg-less” society where folks are not forgotten, and systems are in place to build opportunity for all. We started dregs for “funsies” but also to help those in need. Dregs seemed like the perfect name for this endeavor.
