Dregs FAQ

What is Dregs?

Dregs is a locally distilled potato vodka that gives 100% of profits to local charities that support low income youth. Dregs was founded solely with the purpose of giving back.

What charities does Dregs give to?

Dregs gives to local charities supporting low income youth. We believe everyone deserves an opportunity to succeed and choose charities that impact the lives of future generations. Example charities.

Where is Dregs Vodka made?

Dregs is always produced locally in order to support the local community. We work with local distilleries and rectifiers to provide local jobs. Because we always produce locally, each of our regions has a unique finish and distinct flavor.

Where is Dregs currently available?

Dregs is currently in Oregon and Nevada. We will be in Southern California shortly followed by Washington and Colorado.

What does 100% profit to charity really mean?

Dregs follows the Newman’s Own model. Dregs donates 100% of after tax profit to local charities supporting low income youth. Like Newman’s Own, Dregs ensures we have enough operating expenses to continue making vodka before donating profits.

Where did you get your name from?

Dreg (/dreɡz/) noun:

  1. the remnants of liquid left behind (e.g. the dregs of wine)

  2. a group of people in society who are considered to have no value

We settled on Dregs because we liked the duality of dregs referencing the remnants of liquor and its reference to “the dregs of society” - the forgotten folks.

Just as vodka has no dregs, we love the idea of a “dreg-less” society where folks are not forgotten, and systems are in place to build opportunity for all.

Why vodka?

A lot of folks drink vodka - over 60% of Americans & 3 billion liters of vodka are sold each year. It’s a staple spirit in many of our favorite drinks. Instead of cool advertisements or exotic water, Dregs believes people will buy a vodka that supports the local community.

How much money goes to the owners of Dregs Vodka?

Mike & Courtney, the owners of Dregs, do not take a salary from Dregs. Courtney has a full-time job at Nike, and Mike owns a digital marketing company. Mike & Courtney started Dregs as a means to give back to the local community. Taking a salary does not align with that vision.

Will Dregs support my charity of choice?

Dregs chooses its charities based on 3 criteria:

  1. Does the charity support low income youth?

  2. Is the charity local to a region where Dregs is present?

  3. Is there an opportunity to sponsor a fundraising event?

If your favorite charity meets these criteria, you can suggest them
